The purpose of these publications is to give an overview over the total economy of Greenland. This is conducted through the national accounts statistics over time as a starting point.
The national accounts statistics is built up with the aim of giving a general view of the economy within the framework of a system which, compared with the economic reality is relatively manageable. The national accounts statistics show how income is made, which is distributed and redistributed, before it gives the basis for demand for goods and services. Since these goods and services come from production, the national accounts thus describe a cycle.
The national accounts is based on internationally adopted guidelines, definitions and accounting rules.
Comparison over long periods of time and with countries abroad is thereby possible.
