Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

In 2015, the 193 member states of the UN adopted 17 World Goals, also known as the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs. They aim to develop the world in a sustainable direction with less hunger and inequality, more education and development and a sustainable development of the use of the planet's resources.

According to the UN guidelines, more than 200 indicators have been chosen, which together reflects the achievement of the world goals. Read about the World Goals here

Even larger countries do not have available information to adequately describe developments in all indicators and not all country indicators are relevant for all countries. The same applies to Greenland. Greenland's official website for SDG can be found here

Statistics Greenland presents here a collection of indicators that can be documented statistically today. The collection is divided into:

UN indicators

A UN indicator is used when the indicator coincides with indicators as adopted by the UN

UN Proxy indicators

A proxy indicator is used when the specific UN indicator is not available to Greenland, but the indicator is at the same time considered to refer to the same goal and otherwise be close to the proposed indicator from the UN.

Statistics Greenland Local indicators

The global nature of the global goals means that not all sub-goals and indicators are relevant for all countries. Local indicators are Statistics Greenland's proposals for possible supplementary Greenlandic indicators for the world goals
