Statistics Greenland offers Statistical Yearbook in English. The Statistical Yearbook has lots of useful statistics and information about the Greenlandic society. The Statistical Yearbook 2010 and 2011 are not printed and can therefore only be found on this website. We also aim to translate all content of our free databank - the StatBank - and update tables in parallel

Declining and aging population over the next 25 years
The total population count is over the next 25 years projected to decline from todays 55,984 persons to 51.853 in 2040.

Less than 56.000 living in Greenland
January 1st 2015 there lived 55.984 persons in Greenland. Thus, the population decreased by 298 persons during 2014 and the population count is for the first time after 1997 below 56.000.

Second highest fertility in the Nordic countries
For the second year in a row fertility is below reproduction level, but still the second highest in the Nordic countries, where only the Faroe Islands have higher fertility. On average, Greenlandic women give birth their first child 5 years earlier than women in the Nordic countries. In 2013, the average age of first time mothers were 23.5 years.
